Bogart

Washington, D.C.

This blog was actually begun just before I spent a summer internship with the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS), which is a part of the US National Parks Service. I spent my time in DC writing a HABS report on the Perry Belmont Mansion (now the International Eastern Star Temple), which is just an insane house, and you can read some more about it on this blog, funnily enough!

It’s a GREAT city, and if you love museums it’s paradise. This list is my list of posts on the Washington, D.C. Museums that I managed to get around in 2 months. There are one or two I plan on adding to the list because I didn’t quite get around to writing them up at the time, and I can hopefully get a map up here as well.

So if you’re going on vacation to the American capital, you can see what’s good in the hood. You should also really try to visit Annapolis (number 9) and Alexandria (number 19) if you can while you’re in or near the District. Also – non-museum recommendations for what to do in DC: Gordon Biersch for food, Shakeshack on Connecticut for a “Majority Whip” Ice cream, and Dinner at the Watergate hotel, followed by a wander through the desserted Kennedy Centre while a show is on (for atmosphere!).

And yes, pretty much all I did in DC was eat and go to Museums.
