A few weeks ago, I took a rather detailed trip to visit the house of Dr Samuel Johnson, wit, lexicographer, and by all accounts, total dude.
Damien Hirst at Tate Modern
For once in my life, I may be in danger of being a bit cool. Only a bit, because this is obviously painfully mainstream, but still. I went to the opening weekend of the Tate Modern’s Damien Hirst Retrospective.
Scott’s Last Expedition @ the Natural History Musuem
I took a turn around the Natural History Museum on Friday evening. Lates at the South Kensington Museums is de riguer at the moment, and I had heard good things. Quite apart from the building being awesome (in the truest sense of the word), I saw a rather fantastic temporary exhibition: Scott’s Last Expedition.
Hajj at the British Museum
As previously hinted at, I actually made two visits whilst at the British Museum. The second was to Hajj, the newly-opened exhibition in the Reading Room.
Tomb of the Unknown Craftsman: Grayson Perry at the British Museum
This weekend, I visited two exhibitions at the British Museum. If you know me, you’ll know that’s very out of character – the BM is not usually my thing. This is even more so when it comes to art exhibitions – if I visit the Tate Modern I’ll blow through the whole building in 30 minutes, giftshop included. But I’d heard great things about Grayson Perry’s exhibition (consistently selling out weeks in advance), and I thought I’d give it a go.
Forkbeard Fantasy Exhibition
First exhibition I have ever been to at the Southbank Centre, and I have to say, it was ace.
Freud Museum
Saturday afternoons really aren’t ideal for an abstract history of psychoanalysis, but when you’re working full time you have to be a bit flexible with your weekends…
Wellcome Collection
The Wellcome Collection is the foremost medical museum in Britain, nay, the WORLD as far as I’m concerned, and so it has a lot to live up to.

Charles Dickens Museum
Bloomsbury is a bit of a museum hub, but there again, what bit of London isn’t? I decided to venture off the beaten track a little this week though, and paid a visit to the Charles Dickens Museum.
Geffrye Museum
Geffrye is a pretty weird way to spell Geoffrey. Or Jeffrey. In fact, when talking about it to a former boss (noted museum academic and a Professor) I pronounced it incorrectly, making me look like queen of the morons, and I’ve never forgiven the Geffrye for this. That said, I’m going to try and be objective about my recent visit…
